Built by a parent who's been there
It started at the kitchen table with my 6th grade daughter. She was staring at page 47 of her Pre-Algebra textbook, completely stuck. I tried to help, but stumbling through math I hadn't touched in 20 years just frustrated us both.
We tried the alternatives. ChatGPT just gave her the answer, so she learned nothing. Khan Academy was great but generic - it didn't know her specific textbook or how her teacher explained it.
So I built Halo. I wanted a tutor that reads their actual textbooks, not just the internet. One that knows exactly what they're studying and walks them through it step-by-step until that "aha" moment clicks.
Now, it's not just for her. My 5th grade son uses it for science, and my daughter relies on it for math. It challenges them without overwhelming them. It remembers what they struggled with last week. And most importantly, it teaches them the way a real tutor would.
We're just getting started. We're building a physical robot companion that brings Halo to life at the desk. More on that soon.
