By downloading, installing, or using Halo, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you are a parent or guardian agreeing on behalf of a child, you represent that you have the authority to bind that child to these Terms.

2. Description of Service

Halo is an AI-powered educational tutoring app designed to help students learn through:

• Interactive conversations with an AI tutor
• Personalized practice problems and exercises
• Learning plans adapted to individual progress
• Homework help via photo scanning
• Integration with educational textbooks

3. User Accounts and Eligibility

Age Requirements

• Halo is intended for students in grades 4–12 and college
• Children under 13 must have parental consent to use Halo
• Parents/guardians are responsible for supervising their child's use of the App

Account Responsibility

• You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your device
• You are responsible for all activities that occur through the App on your device
• You agree to provide accurate information when setting up a student profile

4. Acceptable Use

You agree NOT to:

• Use Halo for any unlawful purpose
• Attempt to bypass or circumvent any security features
• Use the App to generate inappropriate, harmful, or offensive content
• Misrepresent your identity or age
• Upload content that infringes on intellectual property rights
• Use Halo for commercial purposes without authorization
• Attempt to reverse engineer the App or its AI systems

5. Educational Content

AI-Generated Responses

• Halo uses Google Gemini AI to provide tutoring assistance
• While we strive for accuracy, AI responses may occasionally contain errors
• Halo is a supplementary educational tool and should not replace classroom instruction, professional tutoring, or teacher guidance
• Parents and educators should verify critical information

Third-Party Content

• Educational content may be sourced from third-party providers (e.g., OpenStax)
• Such content is subject to its own licensing terms (e.g., Creative Commons)
• Attribution is provided where required

6. Intellectual Property

Our Content

The Halo app, including its design, features, and AI technology, is owned by us. You may not copy, modify, or distribute our proprietary content.

Your Content

You retain ownership of content you upload (homework photos, textbooks). By uploading content, you grant us a license to process it for tutoring purposes. We do not claim ownership of your uploaded materials.

8. Disclaimers

• The App requires an internet connection for AI tutoring features
• We may modify or discontinue features at any time

Warranty Disclaimer

9. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of Halo, including but not limited to loss of data, educational outcomes, or other intangible losses.

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Halo and its operators from any claims, damages, or expenses arising from your violation of these Terms or misuse of the App.

We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use of Halo after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms. We will notify users of material changes through the App.

12. Termination

• You may stop using Halo at any time by deleting the App
• We reserve the right to suspend or terminate access for violations of these Terms
• Upon termination, your right to use the App ceases immediately
